TVA is constantly looking for quality resources that will help educate aspiring entrepreneurs on the fine points of building and running their businesses. In fact, WE NEED YOUR HELP! If you’ve found a site, or a resource that has been particularly helpful to you, PLEASE LET US KNOW, by going to our FEEDBACK page and letting us know what you found. If it passes our test, we’ll add it here to help other entrepreneurs.

We are very particular about what we allow on this page. The criteria we use involves the following test:

  • Relevancy: In other words, how good is the advice? Is it relevant to how things work today or has its time passed?
  • Credibility: Who wrote it? What are their credentials for being able to comment on the topic at hand?
  • Substance: Is there any "meat" on the bone or is it all "fluff?" We like articles that are packed with wisdom that will help entrepreneurs do more of the right thing and/or help them recognize mistakes before they happen.

Instructional Guides for Entrepreneurs

Before contacting a prospective investor, any entrepreneur should review the Gould Guides, created to help entrepreneurs in their effort to attract investors.

The author, Neil Gould, has worked with entrepreneurs and business owners for over twenty years and is considered a savvy and accomplished expert in helping entrepreneurs finance a start-up business enterprise.

These guides are offered in a series of four that cover:

  • Guide #1 -- "Creating a Finance Marketing Plan": An internal company road map for generating a Financing Plan to stimulate interest from the Angel and Venture Capital Community.
  • Guide #2 -- "Preparing an Executive Summary/Covering Letter": A two or three page mini business plan summary to send to selected capital sources along with a cover letter that covers very specific key items relating to a business enterprise.
  • Guide #3 -- "Oral Presentation Guide": An oral presentation can stimulate interest in a business enterprise. It can also destroy the confidence that a potential capital source might have in a business enterprise.
  • Guide #4 -- "Types of Capital Sources": Understanding the capital markets and the variety of the different types of investors is critical to establishing a finance-marketing plan to fund a startup, emerging or expanding business enterprise.

These are vital guides to get an entrepreneur off on the right track. They are offered for $39.95 for the series with no shipping or handling costs as all guides are downloadable.
